KAMERA∞ has the pleasure to present a group exhibition of budding young artists, students of Light and Shadow studios, that learn under the tutelage of visual artist Jonathan Murphy.  Jonathan partnered for this occasion with fellow visual artist Mirona Mara, to challenge and guide these young and creative hands and minds to present this show, their first, to the public. The outcome, aptly named, is a “series of colourful events“.

The work displayed is a blend of styles of fourteen young artists, who are also learning  the beauty and intricate finesse of collaborative art, through a process of detachment from their own individual work and elaboration of another’s, towards a unifying concept and aesthetic pursuit.

The starting point for the project was the creation of  irregular forms, with one line or shape giving form to the next, then elaborating or layering on what presented itself both in terms of ideas but also visual continuity. Everything reaching –  in the end –  the form of familiar and unfamiliar shapes and characters, the result of a process of exploration and coming together of multiple minds in the form of multi-dimensional group portraits.

Having explored these areas, each young artist was then challenged to submit an individual piece that linked back to the main thread of the show, by using techniques or mediums they had used throughout the project or by exploring their ideas in a new medium altogether.

The goal of this show is to expose these young artists to the stages of bringing a show to fruition. From concept, through process, and on the walls of a gallery.
